The Ranger football team capped of their season with a dominating 30-6 win over Mesabi East in the Section 7AA final last Friday night at Egerdahl Memorial Field in Proctor.

Due to COVID19, three schools were unable to compete in the Section 7AA playoffs: Moose Lake-Willow River, Royalton, and Eveleth-Gilbert. Nonetheless, the Rangers won both of their playoff games convincingly by a combined score of 68-28, en route to earning the title of Section 7AA Covid Champions for 2020.

The Rangers clung to a 8-6 lead heading into halftime with a 70 yard touchdown pass from Ashton Hann to Dietrich Winegarner being the bright spot for the offense in the first half.

In the second half, the Ranger defense found the endzone twice on two interception returns for touchdowns. Cam Durant returned the first one 35 yards in the 3rd quarter. Then in the 4th quarter, Gabe Kramer took another interception 51 yards to the endzone.
The Rangers held the Giants to only 202 total yards of offense and forced three total turnovers in the game.

Offensively, the Rangers were able to keep the Giants off balance with a mix of their rushing and passing attack all game long. Kale Dugan led the ground game with 94 yards on 17 carries. Ashton Hann led the offense through the air completing 9 of 13 passes for 161 yards and one touchdown.
